Saints GM Mickey Loomis told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that the team still expects Bush to be ready when minicamps open in June but admitted that the star running back faces a longer rehabilitation.br /br /For fantasy owners in keeper leagues this is bad news. A microfracture procedure requires tiny holes to be drilled into the knee to promote cartilage growth. Deuce McAllister had the surgery on his right knee in September 2007.br /br /Since tearing the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee toward the end of the ‘07 season, Bush has experienced swelling and torn cartilage in that knee. As a result, he has missed 10 games. So at the very least, Bush’s knee problems have made him unreliable.br /br /How Bush recovers from his latest setback is anyone’s guess. What concerns us is the number of knee problems that have piled up on Bush, and how his explosiveness is such a key to his game. If Bush suddenly doesn’t cut on a dime for the first time, the question will be asked: Will he ever be the same?br /br /Keeper leaguers should slide Bush down a few notches in their rankings. Meanwhile, Pierre Thomas should move up a few slots. With Bush entering the ‘09 season as a question mark, Thomas should be able to continue to take advantage of an excellent chance to shine in this offense. After all, in the NFL one man’s misery usually leads to another’s opportunity. /blockquote
