JACKSON,Ms – As the Saints embark on their third training camp under Coach Sean Payton in Jackson, there are a lot of areas on the team that one could point to and say–this is the BEST set we’ve had since Payton took over.The Linebackers and Secondary have been revamped; the D-Line has some serious potential; the Receiving core is top flight & even tighter with Shockey; and the QB’s with Brunell—improved big time. But, one area that folks are concerned about–Saints Running Backs.
Deuce McAllister is optimistic, “Potentially this is a very good group. I think each one of us brings something different to the table, and it’s all about putting the work in right now,” said fan favorite #26. Deuce was hoping to have another thousand yard season in 2007, but he went down in late September against the Titans, and had to have surgery for the second time in three seasons.
Granted the Saints dug themselves a huge 0-4 whole and basically had to scrap the running game in those first four games, but without Deuce the running game was never really considered a threat to opposing teams.
